What Is A Credit Union?
A credit union is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative that is owned, managed and utilized by its member-owners. The Board of Directors is elected from and by the general membership and are unpaid volunteers. The members are both the “stockholders” and the “customers”. Therefore, any “profits” the credit union realizes are returned to the member-owners in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, lower fees and stronger capital than for-profit, stockholder-owned and controlled banks.
At Telco, it's all about our members. Not only do we offer low interest rates and higher dividends but we also offer additional insurance options and investment services.
Community Service and The Telco Charity Fund
The Telco Charity Committee is proud to announce its annual contribution of $20,131 to the Telco Charity Fund. Through creative fundraising initiatives like silent auctions, raffles, candy and nut sales, and various events, the committee has significantly impacted the community.
The Telco Charity Fund, established with the core principle of "people helping people," is a vital safety net for Telco members facing unforeseen hardships. Whether it's a sudden medical expense, the sting of job loss, or another unexpected challenge, the fund provides essential support to our valued members.
We couldn't have achieved this success without the generous contributions from our members and staff, who donated time, money, and effort toward our charity fund.
This year's contribution also includes individual non-profit organizations selected by each branch manager and their staff. These selected non-profits hold a place that is near and dear to their hearts and every effort is made to help make a difference—collectively Telco's 12 branches raised $13,177 for these worthy causes.
Telco donated an additional $6,000 to scholarship recipients and $500 to charity organizations.
Telco's overall fundraising efforts this year came to a total of $39,808.
Telco is a Ten-Time recipient of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award, recognizing outstanding activity in community support.
